This upper cover protects the valvetrain assembly, maintains oil pressure, and keeps internal components sealed from the elements.

Valve cover gaskets on 30-year-old ABA engines are a near-universal failure point — oil seeps, burns off the exhaust, and creates that familiar burning smell. When the cover itself is cracked or warped beyond sealing, a donor OEM unit is the correct fix.
