• The Hatch Switch Ghost: The internal microswitch inside the motor housing fails, causing the rear wiper to randomly turn itself on or wipe non-stop — even with the stalk switch off.
• Stripped Wiper Splines: The aluminum drive post corrodes over time. If the wiper arm freezes to the glass in winter and the motor is activated, the splines strip completely — the motor spins while the wiper arm stays motionless.
